What records are included?

The database includes fishing records primarily from official state fish and game agencies. In a few states, records are kept by other organizations, so we included those as well. You can click the source link on any record to see the original record list.

Why is the same species listed twice in a state?

Many states maintain different record lists for different methods of take and different methods of keeping records (length vs. weight for instance). This is one of several reasons why you might find two or more records for the same species in the same state.

What species and methods are included?

Both vary by state. There are records for hundreds of species with methods of take including conventional rod & reel, fly fishing, trotlines, nets, bowfishing, spearfishing and more. Enter a method in the search bar to find more records of the same kind (or simply tap the method on the record itself to search automatically).

How often is the database updated?

New records are added weekly or monthly. We monitor for new information about records and add them as they are certified by state agencies or as they are added to the official list of records online for that state.
